Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
Agrometeorological data analysis and future scenario development of 487 upazilas of Bangladesh will be to assess the climate variability and change at the upazila level through agro-meteorological data analysis which will be helpful in the decision making process for sustainable agriculture production and natural disaster reduction in future in Bangladesh. • To ?nd out the appropriate calibration method for the application of model output for climate variability and climate change impact studies in Bangladesh, through analyses that will be performed on point-to-point or grid-to-grid basis. Without calibration and validation, model output (data) is not directly useful for application purposes.
• To find out trend line analysis of climate variability based on agrometeorological data during the period 1971-2000 or based on availability of data for 487 upazilas in Bangladesh. This analysis will be done to show as to which upazilas were vulnerable due to climate variability and if their trends were increasing or decreasing.
• To generate future scenarios for 487 upazilas based on agrometeorological data to the projected changes in climate for the period 2021-2050 as mid-century and for the period 2071-2100 as end-century relative to the baseline 1971-2000 using the RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5 scenarios respectively and to help farmers to take appropriate decisions for sustainable development in agriculture and natural disaster reduction in future. |

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as single source because BUET is a renowned university in our country and abroad and they have experience in this field (exp. Prediction of temperature and rainfall over Bangladesh using PRECIS). They are also working with World Bank (WB) at different fields as single source service provider. Besides, mentioning in the WB guidelines, selection and employment of consultants under IBRD loans and IDA credits & grants by WB borrowers, page 27, 3.8 & 3.9 under Single Source Selection (SSS) |
