| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
The work consists of:
a. furnishing a desktop study, a numerical model study including all necessary surveys to improve the Karnaphuli River for future port developments all in accordance with the highest standards of the engineering profession and the applicable standards of CPA.
b. Maintenance and Capital dredging strategy (depending on kind of soil, frequency of dredging, extra depth including spreading / dumping of sediments)
c. Determine the potential areas to be dredged for ensuring safe navigation and entrance of larger ships in the river Karnaphuli.
d. Environmental aspects (such as sustainability, nature protection, reuse of dredged materials and dealing with contaminated sediments)
e. Provide a strategy on how to reuse dredged materials, and if that’s not possible how to deal with them;
f. Effective planning and methods of bank protection for sustainable use of the river.
g. Survey and determining the suitable process on both sides of the river for land reclamation with a view for future port development or commercial activities.
h. Provide a strategic plan for optimum utilization of the river and its both bank and approach.
i. Provide a strategy to build maritime structure’s at both sides of Karnaphuli river within port limit area.
j. Maritime access Information (survey, quality of data, maritime safety, international standards, etc)
k. How to implement the maintenance strategy in laws, regulation and enforcement

1. The Eligible consulting firms are to indicate their interest in providing the above mentioned services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (such as: brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff etc.).
Submitted EOI’s would be evaluated on the basis of the following, among others:
Registration of the firm(s);
Annual turnover of the firm(s);
Availability of resources including support services;
Availability of professionals;
Experience of firm(s) in similar works;
Work experience in Various sea and harbours at global level (joint venture allowed).
2. Individual applicant or Lead Partner of JVCA must be an International Consultancy firm
a. Have expertise in completing studies/analysis reports in terms of technical, economic, environmental, operational, financial feasibility study of port expansion like the said study.
b. Having experience in detailed hydrologic and hydraulic studies of sea dynamics and stability and estuarine morphological dynamics in navigational channel and outer anchorage area.
c. Having internationally acclaimed engineering or relevant professional experience. In addition to the services defined in this EOI the Consultant shall have sufficient knowledge (to be demonstrated in the submittal) of Port Facilities (including structures such as jetties, breakwater etc) and port related Environmental Studies.
d. The financial capability should be shown as Financial Turnover supported by audited financial reports for the last five years.
e. The International consultant will nominate an experienced Local firm that is committed to coordination, communication and documentation between CPA and the leading consultant.
f. The lead firm (must be internationally experienced consultancy firm) shall be liable for the entire study obligations under the contract. |
