| Brief Description of Assignment |

The consultant will conduct a topographic survey & will produce a detailed map along the roads depicting all the amenities & suitable for detail design. They will also conduct traffic survey in the area emphasizing on the pedestrian & Non-Motorized Traffic (NMT) especially at the intersections & critical points. The consultant will propose & develop a traffic circulation plan with emphasis on public transport & pedestrians. It will ensure Transportation Accessibility of the area integrating other transport modes; especially NMT & Paratransit. The plan will include detail designs.
They will also prepare a pedestrian & bicycle network while developing a plan to promote their movement. They will provide detail design for road markings, signs, signals & all other road furniture. The consultant will locate open spaces with scopes for development & landscaping (including all the basic facilities & amenities for the pedestrians) along the corridor. They will prepare a cost estimate for implementation.
They will locate & design stops/ bays/ areas suitable for public transport & other informal transport. They will prepare a preliminary drainage plan (with conceptual drawings & schematics) while considering the waterbodies in the area. They will arrange & conduct workshops, public campaigns, meetings etc. as per required. The consultant will prepare the tender documents for the project and will supervise the works during implementation phase. |

(i) Registration of the firm (s), (ii) Company profile: brochure including management, personnel, firm’s specialty, performance etc., (iii) Availability & Summary of qualification of key professionals, (iv) List of rendered services in last 5 (five) years (v) Experience in similar tasks, (vi) Yearly turnover of the firm for last 5 (five) years & (vii) History of litigation in courts or any arbitration proceedings (if any). Applicants may associate to enhance their qualifications but should clearly/explicitly mention whether the association is in the form a “Joint Venture” or “Sub-consultancy”.

In Dhaka, pedestrians form the largest single road user. Unfortunately, they are also the most vulnerable road user group. More than 48% of reported crashes & 72% of fatalities involve them. A design vision that facilitates more people to walk, benefits health, environment & local businesses. Moreover, creating a walkable community around a public transport corridor will contribute to the success of its service. The present situation clearly warrants a significant improvement for walkability & integrated public transport system. The project area is bounded by Mirpur Road, Sat Masjid Road, Dhanmondi Road No. 2 (old) & Dhanmondi Road No. 27 (old). The area has quite a few educational institutions, shopping malls, hospitals etc. which generates lots of trips within the area & attracts people from other parts of the city. The area also consist a lake & a walking area around it.
