Title : e-GP training of BPPA at LGED
Description :

The Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA), as part of its drive to achieve 100 per cent digitization of public procurement, has continued its efforts to strengthen the capacity of key stakeholders of electronic Government Procurement (e-GP).

A five-day e-GP training programme for officials of procuring entities commenced on 5 April 2026 at the Training Lab of the RDEC Building of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in Agargaon, Dhaka. It will end on 9 April, 2026.

The training is being conducted using BPPA’s own training funds. Since 18 January 2026, the Authority has been engaging various government organizations to organize such training sessions, aimed at equipping procuring entity (PE) officials with the necessary knowledge and technical expertise in e-GP.

Chief Executive Officer of BPPA, S. M. Moin Uddin Ahmed, attended the inaugural session as the chief guest, while Chief Engineer of LGED, Belal Hossain, presided over the event. Director of BPPA Mr. Md. Mutasimul Islam was also present.

Addressing the participants, the BPPA CEO said, “BPPA is organizing such training programmes at the field level to enhance the capacity of PE users.” He noted that the use of e-GP has been made mandatory under the Public Procurement Rules, 2025 (PPR 2025), with a view to achieving full digitization of public procurement across the country.

“Full implementation of e-GP is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in public procurement,” he added.

This training at LGED marks the first such initiative in Dhaka conducted under BPPA’s own funding arrangement. Similar training programmes have already been held at Regional Public Administration Centres in Chattogram, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.

The LGED Chief Engineer expressed satisfaction over hosting the programme, noting that the department is pleased to facilitate such capacity-building initiatives for stakeholders. Each batch of the five-day training includes around 20-25 participating officials.

The BPPA plans to continue organizing such training programmes on a needs basis. Previously, it conducted training for procuring entities and tenderers through its consultant, Dohatec New Media, under the recently concluded DIMAPP project.

Further e-GP training initiatives are also planned under BPPA’s ongoing project titled “Procurement Modernization to Improve Public Service Delivery (PMIPSD),” supported by the World Bank.
