| Description | : | The five-day training programme, funded by the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) from its own resources, on electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) for officers of various government offices, has been continuing since 18 January 2026. As part of its drive to achieve 100 per cent digitization of public procurement, the BPPA has been organizing these training programmes to strengthen the capacity of key stakeholders involved in the e-GP system. On 10 May 2026, a five-day e-GP training programme commenced at the Training Academy of the Public Works Department (PWD) at Allenbari in the capital. A total of 24 officers are participating in the programme, which will conclude on 14 May 2026. The Chief Executive Officer of BPPA, Mr. S. M. Moin Uddin Ahmed, attended the inaugural session as the chief guest. Director of BPPA, Mr. Md. Harun Or Rashid, was also present. Addressing the participants, the BPPA CEO said, “BPPA is organizing such training programmes on its own by utilizing the facilities of government institutions that offer better classrooms, washrooms, catering services, and other amenities.” He observed that the e-GP system has significantly simplified the procurement process and removed many of the traditional hassles associated with public procurement. “Full implementation of e-GP is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in public procurement,” he added. The CEO further said that BPPA plans to expand such training programmes beyond Dhaka so that officers in different parts of the country can benefit. He also highlighted the salient features of the Public Procurement Rules, 2025 (PPR 2025). Similar training programmes have already been conducted at the Regional Public Administration Centres in Chattogram, Rajshahi, and Khulna divisions, as well as at the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in Dhaka. BPPA plans to continue organizing such training programmes on a need-based basis. Previously, the authority conducted training programmes for procuring entities and tenderers through its consultant, Dohatec New Media, under the recently concluded DIMAPP project. Further e-GP training initiatives are also planned under BPPA’s ongoing project titled “Procurement Modernization to Improve Public Service Delivery (PMIPSD),” supported by the World Bank.
